2017 - 2018

TIn 2017-2018, India in the Artist's Eye, the successful 2016-2107 series focused on the Indian performing arts, will return to the Mondavi Center. This year, we will host three events.

In fall 2017, we will host Nepathya, an internationally renowed troupe of theater artists from Kerala, who will perform Kudiyattam, the only surviving form of Sanskrit theater. In Professor David Shulman will also be in residence for the week, accompanying the Kudiyattam troupe. While in residence, he will deliver public lectures and offer faculty seminars.

The Kudiyattam perfromances are on Friday, November 3 and Saturday, November 4

In spring 2017, Devendra Sharma and Company, Fresno-based theater company will perform Nautanki is a form of musical theater from North India. 

The Nauntanki performance is on Sunday, April 15th.

Later in the spring, Hari Krishna and Toronto-based inDance will perform two shows featuring the repertoire of hereditary female perfomers from South India. 

inDance performances are on Saturday, May 12th and Sunday, May 13th.
